Mokulua Woodworking, LTD

Michael Fairall: Principal RME

Mike was born and raised on the East coast in Pennsylvania. There he learned various trades of construction working for a family friend and contractor at a young age. His experience was honed while working for the Ryan Homes Corporation in the field and at the operations level. The move to Hawaii was prompted by acceptance into a Masters of Diplomacy and Military studies program at Hawaii Pacific University, during which Mike continued to work in the construction industry. In 2004, Mike decided to start his own company by the name of Mokulua Carpentry and Construction, which would change to Mokulua Woodworking, Ltd. Founded on the values, principles and ethic that Mike grew up with, Mokulua is a very unique company in all regards; at the least a “strategic and diplomatic” approach to building. As Mokulua Woodworking grew in size and stature Mike reached out to some carpenter friends from the East Coast. These men also grew up in Pennsylvania and share the same work ethic that makes Mokulua Woodworking so unique and a true Ohana.

Doug Shew: Project Operations Manager

Doug, another Pennsylvania transplant, made the trek to Hawaii with Mike and is also a graduate of HPU. As a standout student Doug was immediately scooped up by Perot Systems, a government-contracting firm that deals with top level large projects. After spending some time with Perot, a mutual “ah hah” shifted Doug to the reigns of Project Operations for Mokulua Woodworking. It was an easy choice for him to work alongside two of his best childhood friends. Doug is the behind the scenes “make it happen” team mate who rarely gets the applause but deserves the Gold! He has helped Mike create the heart of the company and been a huge factor in its success.

Joleen Lauriano: Office Manager

Joleen is a Kailua girl, where she still lives with her husband Kalani and their four children. The backbone of the office and financial operations Joleen has established herself as manager of all things including our human resources. Managing the finances for Mike and Mokulua Woodworking has been a tedious process but also an intrigal part of the company’s success. She not only brings the structure to the company, she adds the touch of Aloha as well!

Doug Pierce: Director of Marketing and Client Services

During his 6 years served in the US Navy Doug traveled and experienced the world. These travels finally landed him here in Hawaii where he met his wife Danielle. Together they moved to Connecticut where he studied Finance at the University of Connecticut School Of Business. In 2007 he accepted a position at ING managing retirement accounts and monitoring tax laws. This stay on the east coast was short lived as the allure of Hawaii continued to call him back. His expertise in business and his desire to help every client he meets have been a great fit to our team. Based in Kailua, Doug enjoys the beach, music and an active lifestyle.
